“We started our business and July was when we were incorporated for our first day, September 4th, where we actually did sales. We joined the Alamo Ranch 151 Business Association and we did a ribbon cutting,” said Krist Glover, Floor Coverings International Owner. “We did it in the parking lot and they did a nice job on the ribbon cutting.”
Kristi couldn’t be happier with renting office and storage space with Lockaway Storage. “We have this office in Lockaway Storage which is perfect. It allows us to have a nice location. We do not have a retail storefront, so we can have meetings with vendors, representatives, and installers.”
When it came to finding the right space, Lockaway Storage was able to help Kristi find the right office. “We came in in August. We started with a small office and then hired an employee and went down to Jennifer and said, ‘do you have anything else that is bigger?’ We were able to move three doors down. It’s extremely accommodating. We’re all small business owners in the complex,” said Kristi. She went on to talk about how helpful Jennifer St. Pierre, Manager at Lockaway Storage - 1604, has been. “She is awesome. If you call here, she is there. They have been incredibly responsive and very informative. When we wanted a bigger office, we had that office done, signed, and moved in that day. I think they realize that as small business owners we’re flexible and we like to move fast. They respect that and understand the culture.”
Floor Covering International does home visits. “We have a van that has about 3500 flooring samples and we do consultations with that at customer’s homes. We narrow the products down so they aren’t standing in a showroom thinking, ‘I don’t know what to look at.’ We’re actually in the home looking at the floors,” said Kristi.
Kristi loves being in an office space with other small businesses. “I walk down the place all the time and ask ‘What are you doing for insurance? What are you doing for marketing?’ It’s a lot of comradery as well. I think it’s an excellent option for small businesses,” said Kristi. Her 15’ X 20’ office allows her to work closely with others, but still have her own space. “Another nice thing is in the building is an employee break room already there and a nice set of bathrooms. The employees can go down and have a nice place to sit and eat if they would like. Also, in the middle of the building, where you go to have the employee break room, they have small closets and that’s where you can keep offices supplies.”
Kristi also has a 10’ X 30’ storage unit on the property and she couldn’t be happier with the convenience that offers her business. “The other thing that’s beneficial for us is we have our warehouse right behind us. So, it’s right here! We can accept shipments, so that’s an added benefit as well.”
Kristi feels very comfortable and secure working from the facility. “At the front of the building, there are cameras. In the office, they have monitors all over and there’s a ton of them. I can be here by myself at night and know they have the camera going,” said Kristi.
